Middle East nations are showing a way towards sustainable future

With the need to move towards a more sustainable environment and focus on green sources of energy, many nations and organizations have already set foot in the right directions. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), renewable energy can supply about four-fifths of the world’s electricity requirement by 2050.

Middle East nations have one of the highest rates of solar exposure in the world. It has led to plenty of green energy investments, projects that focus on harnessing the wealth of renewable energy sources and reduce carbon footprints.

Dubai has backed numerous institutional and governmental initiatives to promote the use of clean energy. The Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 aims to place the country at the forefront of a low-carbon economy by getting 50 per cent of its power from clean energy sources.

Masdar Abu Dhabi, a pioneer in developing clean energy projects has been working continuously on achieving commercially viable solutions in clean technologies. A good measure of their dedicated efforts is The Masdar City project. It is one of the world’s most sustainable low-carbon urban communities that relies on solar energy and other renewable resources.

Saudi Arabia is slowly moving towards supporting renewable energy and sustainability projects. The kingdom announced allocating monetary loans worth around $319 million for local companies venturing into the renewable energy sector.

It will be good to see how the above nations meet and achieve their green energy targets and utilize renewable sources of energy to their fullest.
